Project Swabhimaan Presents Noor: Conversations That Matter

Thursday, the Rotaract Club of SRCC had the privilege of hosting an initiative we are deeply proud of — Noor, under our Project Swabhimaan, in collaboration with The Healing Touch, Interact Club of VVDAV Public School, Vikaspuri.

The room was full of young women; curious, engaged, and asking questions that don't get asked often enough.

At the heart of the session was Dr. Prerna Lakhwani, Gynecologic Oncologist at Fortis Hospital, Delhi who spoke with clarity, warmth, and zero judgment about PCOS and PCOD: what they are, how they manifest, why they go undiagnosed for years, and what women can do to take charge of their own health.
What struck us most wasn't just the information shared rather it was the conversations it unlocked.
Because that's what Swabhimaan is really about. Not just awareness in the abstract. But creating the kind of safe, informed space where a young woman feels equipped is not ashamed to understand her own body.

A few things we walked away with:
🔹 PCOS affects 1 in 5 women in India — yet awareness remains startlingly low
🔹 Early diagnosis and lifestyle changes can make a significant difference
🔹 Silence is not a coping strategy. Conversation is.

A special acknowledgment to RTR. Srishty Priya for leading Project Swabhimaan with such dedication and vision and to RTR. Angel Patel, RTR. Rudra Madhav Patra, and RTR. Manya Ratra for being part of making Noor a reality.
To every student at VVDAV who showed up, asked questions, and refused to treat women's health as a taboo, this one was for you.
To Dr. Lakhwani, thank you for your time, your expertise, and your commitment to making healthcare accessible and compassionate.
